Characteristics of Arc Resistant Fabric
Arc proof fabric is a type of fabric with fire-resistant properties that can prevent arc burns. It is commonly used in high-risk environments such as the power industry, petrochemical industry, and metal smelting, aiming to protect workers from the high heat, flames, and chemicals generated by electric arcs.
Arc resistant fabric is a special type of fabric that has the following characteristics:
Fire resistance: The anti arc fabric can withstand arc burning at high temperatures and quickly stop burning, effectively reducing the occurrence of fire accidents.
Heat resistance: The fabric can withstand high temperature environments and reduce damage to the skin caused by thermal radiation.
Flame retardant performance: The fabric has self extinguishing performance, which means it can stop burning after the fire source is removed, reducing the spread and expansion of fires.
Wear resistance: The fabric has strong wear resistance and can withstand long hours of work and frequent washing, maintaining long-lasting protective performance.
Breathability: The arc resistant fabric has good breathability, allowing air to circulate and providing a comfortable wearing experience.
Anti arc fabrics are mainly used in the following fields:
Electric power industry: Electricians working in high voltage environments such as power transmission lines, substations, and power plants need to wear anti arc fabrics to protect themselves from arc burns.
The petrochemical industry: Oil depots, oil fields, refineries and other places have risks of explosion, fire, etc. Workers need to wear anti arc fabrics for work protection.
Metal smelting industry: There are hazardous factors such as high temperatures and flames in places such as metallurgical factories and foundries, and workers need to use anti arc fabrics as protective equipment.
Construction site: There are risks such as electric arcs and flames at the construction site, and workers need to wear work clothes made of arc resistant fabric to protect their own safety.
In summary, arc resistant fabrics are widely used in high-risk industries, which can maximize the protection of workers from arc burns and fire hazards.
ATPV (Arc Thermal Performance Value) is an indicator used to evaluate the thermal protection performance of arc resistant fabrics, indicating the thermal resistance that the fabric can provide. The ATPV value is usually measured in cal/cm ² (calories per square centimeter). The higher the ATPV value, the stronger the thermal protection performance provided by the arc resistant fabric. According to the different working environment and risk levels, it is necessary to choose anti arc fabrics with corresponding ATPV values to protect workers. When purchasing arc resistant fabrics, you can refer to relevant standards and certification agency requirements, such as NFPA 70E, ASTM F1506, etc. These standards typically specify the minimum ATPV value required for arc resistant fabrics. According to relevant testing methods, the ATPV value of the fabric is determined through experiments after testing. It should be noted that the ATPV value is not the only evaluation indicator. It should also consider the composition, structure, and other performance indicators of the fabric, such as breathability, wearability, durability, etc., to ensure the comprehensive protection and comfort performance of the arc resistant fabric.
