The numbers in the washtub correspond to the maximum washing temperatures which must not be exceeded. The bar below the washtub indicates the requirement for more gentle (mechanical) treatment (delicate wash). It refers to washing cycles which are suitable for easy-care and mechanically sensitive articles, for example. The double bar indicates washing cycles with minimum  mechanical action, e.g. for wool.
