Flame Retardant Oil Resistant and Water Repellent Fabric
In high-risk environments such as petrochemicals, offshore platforms, and mechanical maintenance, operators face multiple threats such as flames, oil pollution, and chemical splashes. Traditional single function fabrics can no longer meet the requirements of complex working conditions, while oil resistant, and water repellent flame retardant fabrics, with their "three in one" protective performance, have become a key technology to ensure safe production
Core materials and technological implementation
1. Cotton flame retardant, oil resistant, and water repellent fabric
Flame retardant technology: through Proban ® Or Pyrovitex ® After finishing process, a flame-retardant cross-linked structure is formed on the surface of cotton fibers, which meets the EN11612 vertical combustion test (continuous combustion time ≤ 2 seconds, damage length ≤ 100mm).
Oil and water resistance: using fluorocarbon (PFC) finishing agent, the oil resistance level can reach ASTM F1670 level 5, the water resistance level is AATCC 22 level 4, but the washing resistance is weak (usually the performance decreases after 50 washes).
Applicable scenario: Economic needs, such as short-term oil pollution protection in mechanical maintenance, but regular testing of flame retardant performance is required.
Limitations: Low tear resistance (≤ 30N), easily degraded by long-term exposure to strong acids and alkalis.
2. Cotton polyester blended flame retardant, oil resistant, and water repellent fabric (CVC)
Flame retardant technology: achieve durable flame retardancy (EN11612 vertical combustion ≤ 2 seconds, washable for more than 50 times).
Performance advantages:
Comfort: Cotton fibers absorb moisture and are breathable, while polyester enhances stiffness, balancing protection and comfort.
Typical applications: Petrochemical inspection, ship deck operations, requiring a balance between flame retardancy and basic oil pollution protection.
3. Cotton brocade blended flame retardant, oil resistant, and water repellent fabric (C/N)
Flame retardant technology: permanent flame retardant cross-linking is formed inside cotton fibers through the PROBAN process, which meets the EN11611 welding protection standard (flame retardant time ≤ 2 seconds, anti molten metal splashing).
Structural design:
Nylon reinforcement: enhances tear resistance (≥ 40N) and adapts to high mechanical stress environments on offshore platforms.
Application scenarios: Offshore drilling platforms, high-pressure cleaning operations, requiring resistance to flames, seawater, and oil pollution simultaneously.
4. Aramid flame retardant, oil resistant, and water repellent fabric
Intrinsic flame retardant: The ultimate oxygen index (LOI) of meta aramid is greater than 28, and it does not melt when carbonized in the presence of fire, meeting the EN11612 thermal protection requirements
Keep dry in a dynamic water environment.
Performance breakthrough:
Chemical resistance: resistant to strong acids (such as 30% sulfuric acid) and strong alkalis (such as 20% caustic soda), in compliance with EN13034 liquid chemical protection standards.
Durability: After 100 washes, the tear strength retention rate is greater than 85%, suitable for high-frequency washing scenarios.
High end applications: arc operations, core areas of petroleum refining, etc
