When the employees understand the purpose and the need for FR clothing, and they are included in the decision-making process, it is easier to implement the FR clothing program. Management should encourage the employees to view it as a protection from workplace hazards, and not merely an additional benefit. Management can easily mandate the use of FR clothing if it is provided for the employees. In the case of contractors working under the “host” employer they must also be wearing the appropriate FRC’s. The properly rated safety clothing should be dictated by the host company as they are responsible for sub-contractors working under them on-site.
